Cade 1958 Spermophilus endemicus 27 June Coal Mine - Meade River Despite the good habitat conditions prevaling all over this country for ground squirrels and the frequent encounters of old lemmings, I saw only first animal today on the left limit of the river at our first stop about a mile and a half above the Coal Mine. 28 June Saw one girtwig on a high bank along the large lake near T 708. 0 June Several seen along the sandy bluffs fronting on the river below the millage. 9-17 July Umiat - none seen yet in areas where previously there has always been some. -25 July Colville River, from Dolanmagorik to Umiat - only three individuals seen or heard on this stretch where previously they have been seen commonly. August Franklin Bluffs - Sogavanihtok River - common all over the river terraces and on the bluffs. 17 August Obijilak River - seen common in the flood plain and on the old terraces. Occurs less commonly on the steep rocky spools of the valley. -22 August Jogo Lake - very abundant on thermovaries and in flood plain - more common even than last year - 1-8 corvete Jamesway - [illegible]
