Code 1958 Microtus oecanomus 22 August - 1800 - Jogod Lake Set out 20 traps in an area of about 300 square feet - 20 x 60 ft. at the outlet end of the little lake on the mossy area above Jogod Lake. outlet lake trap area The vegetation is wet to damp sedge-grass dwarf willow along margin of lake and along stream outlet, bordered by an area of upland rocky dwarf shrub-heat with a bank 3-4 ft. high between the two habitat types. Very frequent lemmings and fresh new weas in this area. 2 August 1000 - Caught 4 M. oecanomus, specimen members 274, 275, 276, 277, 1 August 1000 - caught one mouse, No 278. 5 August 1000 - no catch - traps removed. Total catch of 20 traps for 3 "nights" equals 5 for 300 square feet. This was one of the shrewiest used looking local areas that I have seen in the Jogs area.
