Hippodromo diadema.
A small colony of this fire bat taken in "Borden's Mine" at Inn Raygel. It was accompanied by
its little H. cervinus at large numbers & Rhinolophus.
It congregated at first about 30 feet from the entrance but
later moved to a rock chamber 100 feet in and and
down, in total darkness.
Hippodromo seroni.
A specimen in alcohol given by Dr. Keeter at
Corkton, the type locality. A & was found laying in
an oven inside an open-door shed. The abdominal
"nipples" were cream colored in the fresh-killed specimen.
A second specimen (no. 10970) from a room in
an abandoned hut at Inn Raygel Air Strip. A third
found in closet in home 1 mile n.w. of Coen.
Four H. seroni netted in trail in rainforest atop of
McLaurill Steps - 1800 ft.
Hippodromo cervinus
A colony of about 100 - mostly in red phase - but
one in gray phase was found at Brocket in the drainage
of the old Fardine Louse. A few were also taken in
the same tunnel at Inn Raygel when they associated with
H. diadema and Rhinolophus. One was taken for
a small pile set by Van who was netting the cliffs
at Newcastle Bay for Taphozous.
One picked up dead in room at Inn Ra. Air Strip.
