Rattus leucopus group
Extremely common in the scrubs on the rimstone ridges at Lockubis
and at the sawmill 2 miles to the NE. Rare at Nau Point
camps - even in the scrubs. Not found at the Tarkine
River camps torn in the low rimstone ridge (in four
1" scut).
Old animals have a singly rusty color, possibly due
to accumulations from the rimstone in the channelled dorsal
spines.
Females have the mammary formula 1-2 = 6.
Animals climb moderately, and can be trapped up
on logs as much as 4 feet from the ground.
Much less common at him Range as Portland
Roads. The rusty color of rimstone so layer rotcally.
Only a couple taken in the Mt Toder scrubs, where
it was scarce. One only & at Bram's Creek, when
it is very rare.
Rattus l. corallus taken in numbers in Rocky Scut, 1500 ft
cutface at Camp One Pocket (west fall of Mc Murritt Range). Two
at Shephards Battery Sibi, Peek R.
Rattus conatus Large series of near topotypes from scrubs of
