Rattus leucopus group Extremely common in the scrubs on the rimstone ridges at Lockubis and at the sawmill 2 miles to the NE. Rare at Nau Point camps - even in the scrubs. Not found at the Tarkine River camps torn in the low rimstone ridge (in four 1" scut). Old animals have a singly rusty color, possibly due to accumulations from the rimstone in the channelled dorsal spines. Females have the mammary formula 1-2 = 6. Animals climb moderately, and can be trapped up on logs as much as 4 feet from the ground. Much less common at him Range as Portland Roads. The rusty color of rimstone so layer rotcally. Only a couple taken in the Mt Toder scrubs, where it was scarce. One only & at Bram's Creek, when it is very rare. Rattus l. corallus taken in numbers in Rocky Scut, 1500 ft cutface at Camp One Pocket (west fall of Mc Murritt Range). Two at Shephards Battery Sibi, Peek R. Rattus conatus Large series of near topotypes from scrubs of Mt Feringan 700-3200 ft, 30 miles s. of Corktown.
