Thur. July 1. Lew went up to Tozer. Van & Don get ready for carrying up their tronons. Han boys, Norton & Roy, cleaning the road back to Tozer Creek for super twenty, last down to the Claudis - Very pretty rock pool - gully large - large exposure of granitic rocks - very picturesque. Fri. July 2. Van & Don, each carrying approximately 50 lbs, left for Tozer shortly after 8 a.m. Weather misty to cloudy. Not too favorable. Rain first traps (110 of them) produced a Rattus Lucopus & 2 Belomys. Open first traps (55) gave nothing. Ned Pinwell, of "Main Roads", who spent the night here returned at 6 below this a.m. Martin out with Jim. Roy with traps. Traps out: Van 55 Roy 30 Martin 48 Tati 80 Milani 106 319 Sat July 2. Weather very bad. Unfortunate for men on top. Cloud, dwells with rare gleams of sunshine. Trapping poor. Geoff down to Patten Roads to meet our wire trip supplies on the "Wandera". Winkler people took him down. Sun. July 4. Boys down from Mt. report almost incessant rain. No mammals. Swarms of very large crickets ate the bait off the traps & by swarming & loading the threads spray the mousetraps. Don for only 2 birds. Boys reached D-mark on Mt Tozer but for no view. Late pm. Winkler folk & Geoff returned. We managed to accommodate 3 men, 2 women & 4 children for the night.
