Wed. June 9. Weather now fair. Dugfield poor. Water not a scent wally. Try Gals stipulation. Boil day. Plane in at 4 p.m. Harvested mm x "Snowy" Baker arrived for Corn Creek. Gallup of "Frank Roods" due by plane. mid night Thu. June 10. Shot 8 cuscus on ground in flood forest. Three phascogales in traps. 2 p.m. Van + I went up Mt. Shea (620 ft.). Conditions shrubby & unattractive. Sund. June 13. Trip with Lin, Pinwell & Norr to within 4 miles of Pascre River crossing. (see below). Large wallaby or Wallaroo? Shot by Barry Fisher. Between Claudie & New Claudie air strips. Male. Weight. 56 lbs. Sandy colour, + scarcely darker than Sand Wallaby. Dimensions: Total length (taken by Don Vernon) 73 1/2 in. ( ? ); tail, 33 (838); hind foot, 9 1/2 ( ? ); Ear (from notch), 3 3/4 (?); greater pirth (?), 27 inches (?). Skull: - Cond. head l., 154 mm.; z. b., 80; pl.l. 96. p4, 9.8; m1, ±6; m2, ±7; m3, ±8.8; m4, ±10. Wed. June 16. Extremely busy last few days. - Numerous spotted cuscuses and fair number of trapped marsupials. Night hunting every night. Weather uncertain - snowy. Sat. June 19. Very busy last few days. More cuscuses; a spring Antechinus, a badger. A cold snap last night, with minimum 58° June 21. Don caught a large & P. maculatus with tiny pouch young. The mother weighed 8lbs 4oz. The young was given to us (Combe no. 10945).
